Meet the face
behind the posts
My name is Sofia Calder. I live in Lisbon and I run Couture Products, a quiet space dedicated to everyday beauty.
I was raised between London and Tangier by an English mother and a Moroccan father. Our home was full of textures and rituals. My mum loved soft linens, English tea, and a proper pair of trousers. My dad brewed mint tea in a silver pot every afternoon and kept his shelves lined with design books and hand-cut zellige tiles. He never wore shoes indoors, only soft leather babouches that I still love to this day. From them I learned to appreciate both structure and warmth, detail and restraint.
I worked in fashion for over ten years, first in Paris and then Milan. I curated seasonal collections and lived out of a suitcase with almost no money. I lived off coffee and whatever I could cook with olive oil and salt.
What stayed with me wasn’t the runway, it was the small things that helped me feel like myself when everything else was chaos: the old robe I stuffed into my suitcase; the cheap candle I lit in every flat; the habit of getting dressed properly in the morning, when no one was watching.
Now I live just off the Praça das Flores, and I’m inspired every day by the azulejos and calçadas. Practical, simple, timeless, and most of all… beautiful.
